INVEST TO CATCH A VISION.
Many people wait casually or sometimes carelessly, for a vision to appear.
While that may happen on very rare occasions, great visions are often discovered by those who are willing to invest time, resources, effort, and convenience in pursuit of a vision.
Prophet Habakkuk gives us a powerful picture of what it takes to catch a vision.
"I will stand upon my watch,
and set me upon the tower,
and will watch to see what he will say unto me...
And the LORD answered me, and said,
Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables,
that he may run that readeth it." — Habakkuk 2:1-2 (KJV)
Habakkuk did not remain in his comfort zone waiting for divine direction to fall into his lap.
He climbed up to his watchtower.
A Watch Tower is normally located on the highest rocky hill in a community.
Habakkuk most likely an old man at that time, climbed up such a rocky hill, and climbed up the ladder of a tall Watch Tower and waited for hours or days to catch a vision.
He came prepared to record what he would receive.
A vision is rarely found in a place of complacency.
It is often discovered in places of preparation, sacrifice, discipline, and focused pursuit.
If you desire a vision for your life, ministry, career, business, or family, invest.
Invest time, invest resources, sacrifice comfort.
Climb your watchtower.
Create time for prayer, study, reflection, learning, and planning.
Come prepared with your notebook. When God speaks, be ready to write.
Vision is not caught by wishing:
Vision is often caught by watching.
