If Your Faith Does Not Promote Your Liberty,...Think TwiceToday, I want us to look critically at the words of Jesus Christ in John 8:32:"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free".Christian faith is a beautiful and transformative journey. One that is meant to bring us closer to God and to empower us to live with Liberty spiritually, socially and materially. The reason for this is simple:The core message of the gospel, as preached by Jesus Christ, is one of liberation, restoration, and wholeness. Jesus did not come to burden us, or to destroy us, but to save and to set us free. We can prove this with a few key Scriptures:1. Luke 4:18"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised" This verse speaks of the mission of Christ, which is to bring freedom, healing, and restoration to the oppressed and the broken-hearted. True faith in Christ should lead to a greater experience of liberty in our lives.2. John 10:10"I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly"Jesus came for us to have life in abundance: a life of wholeness, joy and fulfilment.3. John 13:34"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another" The cornerstone of the Christian faith is love: – love for God and love for one another. When our faith is applied correctly, it will lead to stronger and more meaningful relationships with those around us.4. Galatians 5:22-23"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law" The Holy Spirit in us should produce tangible, positive changes: – changes that enhance our overall well-being and our ability to live better with those around us.5. Galatians 5:1"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage".This verse reminds us that the freedom Christ offers is not to be taken lightly. In conclusion, Christian faith is not meant to be a burden, but a means of experiencing true and lasting freedom. • Freedom in our relationship with God.• Freedom in our physical and emotional well-being, and, • Freedom in our relationship with others. If your faith is not reflecting these positive transformations, then it may be time to re-evaluate your understanding of what it means to follow Christ. If your faith add burdens and reduce liberty, evaluate the messages being preached to you.If your faith makes you more fearful and less hopeful, evaluate the prophesies coming from the mouth of your preacher. Is summary:"If your faith does not promote your Liberty, your social welfare, your health and your relationship with others: think twice."
