The Wisdom In Embracing Church Membership

People used to join a church just to conform to the society

But Wisdom demands that you should join a church as an act of Commitment to the Body of Christ.

Church is the body of Christ. And every member has a unique role to play
I Corinthians 12:27 - Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

A genuine church member must be planted.
Psalms 92:13 - Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

Benefits Of Belonging To A Church As A Membership
  1. Membership Identifies A Person As A Genuine Believer
    Ephesians 2:19 - Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Romans 12:5So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

  2. Membership Provides A Spiritual Family For Support And Encouragement
Galatians 6:2 - Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

    Hebrews 10:24 – 25
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

  3. Membership Places You Under A Spiritual Leaders
Jeremiah 3:15 - And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

    John 21:15 – 17
15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Hebrews 13:17 - Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Any Church That Does Not Honour Their Pastor Can Not Prosper
I Chronicles 20:20 - ….Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Acts 20:28 – Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

  1. It gives them a place to discover and use their gifts in ministry
    I Corinthians 12:4 – 27

  2. It gives them the accountability they need to grow
Ephesians 5:21 - Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
