TOPIC – Handling Opposition

Psalms 124:1 – 8
1 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;
2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Where you are now is not your uttermost.
God will take you forward. Outstanding Success is your portion.

The Place of Opposition

1. As you go forward opposition is inevitable
2. Outstanding Success comes with a package of opposition.
3. We are expected to build our capacity to handle oppositions
   Ephesians 6:11 - Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
4. You build capacity to handle opposition before opposition comes

God has designed the devil to always come late:
Matthew  4:1 – 11 – Jesus had built His capacity before Satan came.

Proverbs 24:10 - If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. 

Categories of Oppositions

A.    Human Oppositions
- Individuals will be opposing your progress
- Human systems creating a barriers for you, either Lawfully or unlawfully

B.    Demonic Opposition

a.     Hindering Forces
This forces do everything to stop your advancement

b.     Frustrating Forces
These forces will not stop your advancement but they will make sure you don’t benefit from your progress. You will have nothing to show

c.      Controlling Forces
These forces makes you loss control.
Other people will take advantage of your labour and success.

How To Handle These Oppositions:

1. Don’t entertain excuses.
   Do say “it does not matter”.
   What you say does not matter will soon become THE matter!
   
2. Give life a warfare approach.
   Life is essentially warfare
   If you give it a warfare approach you enjoy funfair
   If you give it a funfair approach, you suffer defeat and devastation.
   
3. Understand the battle is the lord; Because the vision belong to Him
   Deuteronomy 20:1 – 4
   1 When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
   2 And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,
   3 And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;
   4 For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.
   
4. Be conscience of your authority as a believer and as a servant of God
   Matthew 18:18 -Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
   
5. Keep declaring your victory
   Job 22:28 - Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
   
6. Don’t Take God’s glory
   Isaiah 42:8 - I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
   
   Example of Herod ( He took God’s Glory and He Was Smitten)
   Acts 12:21 – 23
   21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
   22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
   23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
