SHAMELESS STRIFE FOR POWER AND LEADERSHIP

SHAMELESS STRIFE FOR POWER AND LEADERSHIP.

"And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest." — Luke 22:24 (KJV)

One of the most sobering moments in Scripture is found in Luke 22.

Jesus had just instituted the Lord's Supper and informed His disciples that His body would be broken and His blood shed for mankind. The shadow of death was already looming over Him.

This was a moment that called for compassion, support, prayer, and deep concern for their Master.

Yet, instead of mourning with Him, the disciples turned their attention to themselves.

They began arguing over who would be the greatest among them.

While Jesus was preparing to sacrifice His life, they were competing for positions of power and influence.

What a painful picture!

This incident reminds every leader that not everyone around him is committed to his well-being.

Some are more interested in the position he occupies than in the person he is.

While a true leader is focused on service and sacrifice, others may be focused on succession and self-promotion.

Jesus, however, used that moment to teach a timeless lesson: greatness in the Kingdom is not measured by title, rank, or authority, but by humility and service.

He declared, "he that is chief, as he that doth serve."

Leadership is not about who sits on the highest seat; it is about who carries the greatest burden for others.

Those who chase positions often miss purpose, while those who serve faithfully are eventually entrusted with greater responsibility.

May God deliver us from the shameless struggle for power and help us embrace the noble call to serve.

"But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve." — Luke 22:26 (KJV)
