Boniface Amani Muhoro Gichina

WHO IS THIS MAN?
Boniface Amani Muhoro Gichina.

I grew up in Githabai, a small village in Kinangop on the slopes of the Aberdare Mountains.

My mother was a committed believer in Githabai AIC Church. They did not have a building of their own. Instead, they would hold their Sunday services in a classroom in Githabai Primary School.

My father gave his life to Christ when I was in form three, and he went on to become a senior pastor in Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG).

As a child, I grew up loving the church, but I never dreamed of becoming a pastor. I was a shy, quiet, and somewhat stammering  in my speech.

I still stammer while under pressure or while I am uncomfortable with the people around me.

I always believed that to be a pastor, you needed to be eloquent and outgoing. These are two qualities that I didn't have, and I still don't have.

Though I am the firstborn in my family, I never thought I could occupy any leadership position in the church or in the society.

That all changed when I gave my life to Christ in Form Two in Njabini Secondary School, when I was just 14 years old.

After that, I became heavily involved in the school choir and our local village church choir.

In the village, they still call me, "Bwana Mahangaiko" because I would sing the song, "Mahangaiko na Mahangaiko, na shughuli za kila siku......." every Sunday during school holidays.

After completing my first degree in Geology I knew I was far from the world of theology.

But as fate would have it, I read a few books written by Bishop David Oyedepo, which led me to join Winners Chapel International Church where I continued to be active in my spiritual stewardship.

In October 2005, I was ordained as a part-time pastor, despite my stammering.

Then, in November 2009, I was enlisted as a full-time pastor, where I have been serving up to this day.

I am privileged to have served as a Resident Pastor in a number of our churches, and I love it so much.

I love loving people, serving them, caring for them, and dreaming with them.

My congregants have loved my easy style of preaching and easy access to me.

They have accepted my simplicity in my leadership style.

I love this job, and I cannot change it for anything else.

I will remain a pastor, a minister of the gospel, a shepherd of God's people until my last breath.

I love reading the Word, writing Word-based articles, and sharing them on daily basis.

This is my calling, and I am honoured to fulfill it.

Boniface Amani Gichina (CPM)
