Understanding and Appreciating Politics

WHY WE ALL NEED TO UNDERSTAND AND APPRECIATE POLITICS.
My fellow citizens, I Post here today to deliver a message that I believe is crucial for the future of our great nation.

For too long, we have allowed politics to be relegated to the side-lines, viewed as a game played by the elite, with little relevance to our everyday lives. But my friends, I come to you today to say that nothing could be further from the truth.

Politics is not just a spectator sport - it is the very lifeblood of our society, the engine that drives the policies and decisions that shape our lives, our communities, and our shared destiny as a nation. When we ignore politics, when we disengage from the process of governance, we do so at our own peril. For it is the politicians, the lawmakers, the policymakers, who hold the power to impact every aspect of our lives - from the quality of our schools, to the safety of our streets, to the strength of our economy.

And this is especially true here in Africa, where the stakes have never been higher. In a time of global uncertainty and rapid change, the decisions made by our political leaders will determine whether our nations thrive or falter, whether our people prosper or suffer. This is not a time for apathy or indifference - it is a time for action, for engagement, for a renewed commitment to understanding and shaping the political landscape.

This call to action is especially urgent for our youth, the future leaders of this continent. It is your generation, my young friends, who will inherit the consequences of the choices made today. And so I implore you, do not sit on the side-lines and let others decide your fate. Educate yourselves, engage in the political process, make your voices heard. For it is only through active participation that we can truly hold our leaders accountable, and ensure that the policies they enact reflect the needs and aspirations of all citizens.

And to our religious organizations, I say this: you too have a vital role to play in cultivating a culture of political engagement. For too long, politics has been seen as a realm separate from faith, when in reality, the decisions made by our leaders have profound moral and ethical implications. It is your responsibility, as the spiritual guides of our communities, to help your congregants understand the deep connections between their values and the policies that shape our society.

My friends, the future of our nation, the well-being of our people, rests in our hands. We cannot afford to be passive observers, content to let others determine our destiny.

Now is the time to rise up, to engage, to make our voices heard. For in doing so, we honour the sacrifices of those who came before us, and we pave the way for a brighter, more prosperous future for all.

Thank you, and may God bless our beloved Africa. Keep flourishing even in hard times.

Pastor Boniface Amani Gichina
