Be Vigilant, Be Alert

Be Alert and Vigilant: At All Times.

Today, we learn from the people of LAISH, the importance of remaining alert and vigilant, even in the midst of peace, security and prosperity.

“And they took the things which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire”. -Judges 18:27 KJV

As we can see in this Scripture, complacency can be a dangerous trap.

Complacency leaves us vulnerable to the unexpected and the unseen dangers.

In this account, the tribe of Dan, were searching for a new home, and they came upon the city of Laish.

The people of Laish were,

"at quiet and secure,"

Lulled into a false sense of safety and security.

The Danites, who were on the move, quickly seized the opportunity and,

"smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire."

This is a powerful reminder that even when all appears calm, cool and settled, we must remain alert  and vigilant.

The people of Laish had grown complacent, allowing their guard to drop, and they paid a heavy price for it.

As believers, we must heed this warning and stay alert. The forces of darkness are always at work, seeking to catch us off guard.

Apostle Peter warns against complacency too. He says,

"Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." – 1 Peter 5:8

Peter reminds us that our spiritual enemy, the devil, is always on the move, seeking to catch us unawares.

The devil is relentless in his pursuit of our souls. We must be vigilant and keep our guard up.

We must never become complacent, even in times of apparent peace and security.

The enemy is always lurking, waiting for the moment when we let our guard down.

Let us heed the call to be alert and vigilant, keeping our eyes fixed on God, and our hearts attuned to His voice.

When we remain steadfast in our faith and attentive to God's leading, we will be strengthened and empowered to withstand the unexpected and overcome the unseen.

The calmness in our homes, our villages and our Nation should not tempt us into complacency.

Keep your antennas up.

The enemy does not need any invitation. He is always waiting to gatecrash when we least expect.

I pray that none of us who will suffer what the people of Laish suffered !!!

The devices of the enemy are disappointed, even before they are hatched, in Jesus Mighty Name.
