BIBLE STUDY MADE EASIER:
Part 2 - New Testament.
Beloved brethren, just like the Old Testament, the New Testament is also organized by genre and not by age.
Here is how the New Testament books are grouped:
1. The Gospels:
These are the heart of the New Testament, telling the story of the life of Jesus, His ministry, His death, and His resurrection.
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
2. History of The Early Church:
This section contains one book that chronicles the early church and the spread of Christianity after Jesus resurrection and ascension.
- Acts of the Apostles
3. Letters (Epistles):
A significant portion of the New Testament consists of letters written by apostles to churches and individuals, offering guidance, instruction, and encouragement.
These are often further divided into:
(A)Pauline Epistles:
Letters written by Apostle Paul.
Romans, 1&2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1&2 Thessalonians, 1&2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon
(B) General Epistles:
Letters written by other apostles.
Hebrews, James, 1&2 Peter, 1,2&3 John, Jude.
4. The Apocalyptic:
This genre deals with visions of the end times and God's ultimate victory.
- Revelation
Understanding these genre divisions of the books of the New Testament helps us to approach each book with the right expectations, and interpret it in its proper context.
I encourage you to study the Bible by yourself.
Your Pastor may never have the time (or the permission) to teach some of these things.
