Burial Sermon: What Are You Going To Leave Behind

1)      Death Is A Reality

Ecc. 3:1-2 
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 

2  A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 

 

Psa. 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. 

 

2Cor. 5:1 - For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 

 

2)             But Death is Unfair.

·        Come without notice

·        Comes And Changes Thisngs Permantly

·        Comes And Does Not Give People Being Left A Second Chance

3)             Death is Not a Respector of Persons

·        Visit the Rich and The Poor

·        The Learned And Unlearned

·        The Wise And The Foolish

·        The Famous And The infamous,

4)             Death Causes Uncertain Reactions

·        Jesus Wept (John 11:35)

·        Job Worshiped (Job 1:20-22)

Job 1:20-22
20  Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, 
21  And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. 
22  In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

 

The Question Is:
What Are You Going To Leave Behide?

·     Not MATERIAL Things: But VIRTUES (In The People) !!!
We brought Nothing To This World,
We Will Carry Nothing Out This World:

1Timothy 6:7  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 

But Our Works Will Follow Us:
Rev. 14:13  - And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

Examples:

·       Abraham = Father of Faith – Left Faith

·       David = Servant of God – Left A Kingdom of Dedicated Stewards

·       Dorcas = Full of Good Works and Charitable Deeds

·       KAWIRA – Spiritual Impact – The Son and The Mother are Devoted Believers

Alter Call:
Matthew 16:26 - For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 11:28 - Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
