TOPIC – Understanding The Power Of Thanksgiving

There is Power in Thanksgiving
Psalms 92:1 - It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

Psalms 127:1
- Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Thanksgiving is a mystery –
And we are STEWARDS OF THE MYSTERIES of God – 1 Cor. 4:1

What Happens when We Thank God
1.Multiplication.
John 6:1-13 – Five loaves of bread and Two fishes Multiplies
5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves; AND WHEN HE HAD GIVEN THANKS, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, GATHER UP THE FRAGMENTS that remain, that nothing be lost.
13 Therefore they gathered them together, and FILLED TWELVE BASKETS with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

2.Reversal of adversity.
John 11:41-44 – Jesus gave thanks and Lazarus came back to life
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth

3.Perfection
Luke 17:12-19 -
One leper returned to glorify God and he was made WHOLE
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

4.Protection From Harm
The bible says it is a good thing to give thanks – Psalms 92:1
And Saint Peter makes it clear to us that no one can harm us if we be followers (doers) of that which is good
I Peter 3:13 - And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
