TOPIC – Overcoming Temptations

Temptation is a reality. Jesus warned His disciples about temptations
Matthew 26:41 -Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Jesus Prayed for Peter -
Luke 22:31 -32
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Why Temptations Come:

1. To Undermine The Plan And Will Of God
   Genesis 3:4-5
   4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
   5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
2. To Lead Man To Destruction And Death
   John 10:10 - The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:

How Do You Overcome Temptations

1. Ask God To Deliver You From Temptation
   2 Peter 2:9 - The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the Day of Judgment to be punished:
   
   1Corithians 10:13 - There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
   
2. Guard Yourself By Putting on the Whole Amour of God
   Ephesians 6:10 – 11
   10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
   11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Wiles = Methods, Means, Plans, Machinations, Traps, devices, imaginations etc)
