Meekness is Power Under Control.
Beloved brethren, today I want us to reflect on the virtue of meekness - a quality that is often misunderstood and undervalued in our world.
A wise man once said:
"Meekness is not weakness. It's power under control."
Jesus Himself emphasised this truth in His Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew 5:5 KJV.
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth".
In a world that glorifies strength and pride, Jesus magnified the humble as the true inheritors of God's blessings on earth.
The psalmist echoes this in Psalms 25:9 KJV.
"The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way."
Here the psalmist makes us to see that meekness is not a sign of weakness, but rather a positioning for God's guidance.
Meekness is not the absence of strength, but the ability to harness and control our strength for the greater good.
When we are meek, we are not easily provoked or offended.
We are slow to anger and quick to forgive.
Meekness is the ability to:
•Hold our tongue when provoked,
•Turn the other cheek when wronged, and
•Respond with grace and understanding even in the face of hostility.
If we walk in meekness, we will indeed inherit the earth, because God will guide us and teach us His ways which are superior to our own ways.
Finally, remember Jesus warning in Matthew 23:12 NLT
"But those who exalt themselves will be humbled,
and those who humble themselves will be exalted".
Meekness is the pathway to high places.
