Reggae icon and lead singer of Grammy-award winning Reggae group Morgan Heritage, Peter “Peetah” Morgan, has has taken his ancestral rise.
Peter also known as “Peetah” was the lead singer of the reggae band Morgan Heritage, a Grammy Award-winning group that was formed by children of the Jamaican reggae singer Denroy Morgan in the 1994.
The groups albums include, “Protect Us Jah” (1997) and “Don’t Haffi Dread” (1999), album “Strictly Roots” won for best reggae album of the year at the 2015 Grammy Awards. Their latest album, “The Homeland,” released in 2023, highlighted reggae’s African roots and featured collaborations with musicians from Jamaica and Africa.
In a statement posted Sunday on social media, the family asked for privacy and thanked people in advance for their love and support. The announcement did not share a cause of death.
Peetah was 46 years old at the time of his passing. We send our condolences to his family and friends.
