"When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)" - John 4:1-2

From the beginning, the disciples of Christ were baptizing people even when He was living with them. It appears that baptizing people was one their major mission and assignment while Christ was still with them.

Jesus latter commissioned all of them to go to the whole world baptizing people every where, in all the nations, even unto the end of the world.

"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." - Matthew 28:18-20

Every Christian is commissioned to baptize people. Every Christian is a new generation "John the Baptist"

GO YE THEREFORE AND BAPTIZE PEOPLE, EVEN TO THE END OF THE WORLD!
