Prophetic Focus:  Outstanding Success Is My Birth RightMatthew 5:13 - 16

TOPIC – Great Commitment To The Great Commandments And The Great Commission
The character of a Christian is summarized by Jesus in Two Great Commandments
  1. Love God With All Your Heart And Mind
  2. Love Your Neighbour As Yourself.
    Matthew 22: 35 – 40
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
The great assignment of a believer was also summarized by Jesus in The Great Commission.

Matthew 28:19 – 20
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
The great Commission can be broken down into three tasks.
1.     Go And Teach
2.     Baptize
3.     Make Disciples
Note:
(a)
Our assemblies are defined by what they are committed to.
(b) The commitment of an assembly is greatly influenced by the commitment of the pastors there.

The Two Major Tasks Bestowed On Us By The Two Great Commandments Are:
  1. Love The Lord With All Your Heart.
We express our love to God through Worship and Service.
Matthew 4:10 - …. Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
  2. Love Your Neighbour As Yourself:

This is what we call ministry
    1. It is taking care of others
    2. It is meeting the needs of others
    3. It is healing the hurting of others: Emotionally, Physically and Spiritually

We are also to equip the saints (Church Members) for ministry
    Ephesians 4:11 - 12
    11-  And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 - For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

The THREE MAJOR TASKS Drawn From The Great Commission Are:
  1. Go And Teach
Teaching is a major role for pastors
Jeremiah 3:15 - And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

    Jesus Equated Teaching With Feeding
    John 21:15 – 17
15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

You can adopt different methods of teaching but these three things are non-negotiable:

    1.
Treat people with love and Respect
    2.
Relate the message to the needs of the people
    3
. Share messages in a practical and understandable manner.

  2. Go And Baptize
    - Water baptism
    and Holy Ghost baptism

    Facts About Baptism
    1.
    Baptism is a mystery
    2.
Baptism signifies identification with the body of Christ
    3. Baptism initiates a new believer into fellowship in the body of Christ.

  3. Make Disciples
Make disciples by changing peoples lives and their pattern of thinking

    Note:
Make Disciples of Christ NOT OF YOUR church or your pastor.
