TOPIC – Why Jesus Came And Why He Died

The coming of Jesus was prophetic. His death was for a purpose.

Three reasons why Jesus came to die on the cross
  1. To set us free from condemnation
    Romans 8:1-
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God

But Don’t Confuse rebuke and condemnation
1Timothy 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
    Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Proverbs 27:5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.
  2. To set us free from curses and initiate us in the blessings of Abraham
    Galatians 3:13 – 14
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

    Blessings of Abraham - Genesis 22:17 -18

    17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; …..
Genesis 24:1- And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.
  3. To deliver to us the keys of the kingdom of Heave.
    Matthew 16:19
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

    The keys are the scriptures
    Proverbs 4:20 -22
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

    Jeremiah 15:16
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:

    Two Category of Christians
    1. Too busy to find the keys
    2. Too lazy to bother finding the keys
