Pursue Peace, With All Men, At All Times.
My brethren, the Scriptures are clear that we are to strive for peace with all men, as much as it is possible.
Peace is not only a virtue, but it is the foundation upon which prosperity is built.
Apostle Paul instructs us in Romans 12:18,
"If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men."
This is a command from God, - that we are to make every effort, to the best of our ability, to live in peace with those around us.
The Psalmist declares,
"Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it." – Ps.34:14
We are not simply to wait for peace to come to us, but we are to actively pursue it.
Peace is something that must be chased after, fought for, and protected.
In James 3:18, the Bible says,
"And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace."
When we sow seeds of peace, the harvest we reap is righteousness - the very character of God Himself. Peace and righteousness go hand-in-hand.
In Proverbs 16:7, we read,
"When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him."
When we walk in obedience to God's ways, He has the power to supernaturally bring peace, even in the most hostile of situations.
And finally, Jesus Himself said in Matthew 5:9,
"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."
Those who actively work to bring peace are recognized as the very sons and daughters of the Most High God.
My brethren, the pursuit of peace is not an option, but a command. It is the will of God for us.
When we walk in peace, we walk in the very blessings of God.
Let us resolve today to be people of peace.
To chase after peace with all our might, and to see the fruit of righteousness flourish in our lives and in our communities.
May the God of peace be with you all.
Amani Ya Bwana Iwe Nanyi.
