Dig a Well When You Are Not Thirsty.
Today, I want to share with you a profound truth that can guide us through the ups and downs of life.
The saying is:
“Dig a well when you are not thirsty.”
When your stomach is full, when we are quenched, when life is good and the skies are clear, that is the time to prepare for the storms that may lie ahead.
A Thirsty Person Cannot Dig a Well. !!!
When the dry earth is beneath our feet, when the old well has run dry, and we find ourselves desperate for a sip of water, it is far too late to start digging.
In those moments, we must rely on the preparations we have made when our hearts were full and our strength was abundant.
Solomon, once wrote,
"The wise man foresees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished" - Proverbs 22:3.
Apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:16, says,
"Redeem the time, for the days are evil"
In Ecclesiastes 12:1, we read,
"Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, 'I have no pleasure in them'".
It is in our youth, when we are strong and vibrant, that we must lay the foundations for the later years of our lives.
In the parable of the Wise and Foolish virgins, Jesus teaches us to always be prepared even for the “Midnight”.
"at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!'" - Matthew 25:6
My friends, the message is clear: use your good seasons to prepare for the bad seasons.
Dig your well when you are not thirsty.
I encourage you today to:
• Dig your well,
• Tend to your fields, and
• Make ready for the days ahead.
This way, you will be able to weather any storm that may come your way.
When food is plenty, don’t eat with your two hands. Use one hand to eat, and the other hand to plant.
One word is enough for the wise.
