The Power Of Social Entreprenuership

Definition:
1.     A Social Entrepreneur identifies and solves social problems on a large scale.

2.     A Social Entrepreneur act as an agent of change in a society,

3.     A social entrepreneur seizes opportunities others miss in order to improve systems, invent new approaches and advance sustainable solutions in a society.

4.     Unlike traditional business entrepreneurs, Social Entrepreneurs primarily seek to generate "social value" rather than profits.

5.     The job of a social entrepreneur is to recognize when a part of society is stuck and to provide new ways to get it unstuck.
He finds what is not working and solves the problem by changing the system, spreading the solution and persuading the society to take new leaps.

6.     A social entrepreneur is a businessman who trade with ideas that brings social value rather than profit.
Jesus was anointed for social entrepreneurship.
  • Acts 10:38 - How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Jesus was aware of this role as a Social Entrepreneur
  • John 9:5 - As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
  • John 8:12 - Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
We are expected to be Social Entrepreneurs
  • Matthew 5:14 - Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
  • Acts 13:47 - For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
Biblical Examples of Social Entrepreneurs
  1. Nehemiah
    He lead the people to rebuild a broken wall in 52 days
    Nehemiah 6:15 - So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.
  2. Ezra
    He lead a group of Captives from Babylon back to Jerusalem
    Ezra 7:6 - 8
  3. Haggai
    He lead people to rebuild a stalled Church
Present Day Social Entrepreneurs
1.     Henry Dunant- Founded the RED Cross in 1863 in Geneva Switzerland
- It now has 97 million staff and volunteers world wide.
- Has won the NOBEL PRIZE 3 times – 1917, 1944 and 1963.
2.     Bob Pierce

Founded The World Vision in 1950.
3.     The late Geoffrey griffin of Starehe Boys (Kenya).

He started Starehe Boys Centre with TWO TIN HUTS donated by Kenya Shell.
- He used to work for 16 hours a day until his fiancé left him in 1967.
- Died in 2005 and President Kibaki attended the Burial
