Marriage - The Voice of The Bride And The Bridegroom

1. Human History Opens With A Marriage

God first appeared in Human history as a marriage maker.

God took a major role in the first marriage ceremony.

Genesis 2:22 - And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

This brought unspeakable joy to Adam. All he had to say was; “this is bone of my bones, and fresh of my fresh.”

Genesis 2:23 - And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Then God went ahead and defined how Adam and Eve should live.

Genesis 2:24 - Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

2. Human History Will Climax With A Marriage.

Revelation 19:7, 9

7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.

3. Jesus Started His Earthly Ministry In A Marriage Ceremony
John 2:11 - This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory;

Important Truths About The Marriage In Genesis:

1. The Concept Of Marriage Originated With God.

It was God, not Adam who decided Adam needed a wife.

Genesis 2:18 - And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

2. It Was God Who Formed Eve For Adam.

God alone knew the kind of a mate Adam needed.

Genesis 2:22 - And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

3. It Was God Who Brought Eve To Adam

Adam did not need to search for her. (Genesis 2:22 above)

4. It Was God Who Decided How They Should Live Together.

Not Adam, Not Eve.

Genesis 2:24 - Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

These are Biblical principles for a fulfilling marriage.

Let us not use world standards in Christian Marriages. We are in the World and that is okey, but we should not allow the world to be in us. It is better for a ship to be in the sea, than the sea to in a ship.

When the voices of brides and bridegrooms are not heard in a community, it is an indication that that community is going through a period of decline.

Jeremiah 25:10 – 11

10 Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.

11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Equally, the period of restoration is marked with the voices of brides and bridegrooms.

Jeremiah 33:10 – 11

10 Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, ......,

11 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.

The restoration of a people is incomplete without “the voices of brides and bridegrooms”

God is ready to settle the solitary in families!

Psalms 68:6 - God setteth the solitary in families
