Five Practical Ways To Honour Our Fathers.
Beloved, today I want us to reflect on the sacred duty of honouring our fathers.
The Bible is clear on this matter, for the commandment states,
"Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you." (Exodus 20:12)
I want to highlight five (5) profound ways we can honour our fathers based on the Scriptures.
1. Heeding Their instructions.
In Proverbs 1:8, we are told,
"Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and forsake not your mother's teaching.".
This reminds us that part of honouring our fathers is to heed their wise counsel and learn from their experience.
2. Obedience By Actions.
In Ephesians 6:1 the Bible says:
"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right."
When we submit to the authority of our fathers and obey their godly guidance, we demonstrate our respect and love for them.
3. Providing for Their Needs.
The Bible says in 1 Timothy 5:8,
"But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."
As our fathers grow older and may require assistance, it is our duty to care for them and meet their necessities.
4. Speaking Well of Them.
Proverbs 22:1, declare,
"A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold."
When we speak positively about our fathers and defend their reputation, we uphold their legacy and bring glory to God.
5. Living Lives That Make Them Proud.
Apostle John wrote, in 3 John 1:4,
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."
As we strive to walk in obedience to God's commands and become men and women of integrity, we bring great joy and honour to our fathers.
Let us not take for granted the precious gift of our fathers. They have sacrificed much to provide for us and guide us.
Let us heed the Scriptures and demonstrate our love and appreciation for them in all that we do.
May our fathers be blessed.
May God grant us the grace to honour our fathers all through and through.
Happy Fathers Day to all Our Amazing Fathers.
