Sunday School Teachings - What Righteous Children Do

TEXT: Exodus 20:12
Exodus 20:12 - Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

BIBLICAL CHARACTER:  Solomon– He always followed the instructions of His father and he even wrote proverbs about it - (Proverbs 10:1 - The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.)

MEMORY VERSE
Proverbs 15:20 - A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother. 

Objective: Help the children understand what is expected of them as righteous children.

What Righteous Children Do In Their Families

1. They Honour their Parents
   Exodus 20:12 - Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
   Deuteronomy 5:16 - Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
   
   
2. They Obey Their Parents
   Ephesians 6:1 - Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
   Colossians 3:20 - Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
   
   
3. They Work Hand At Home And In School
   Proverbs 10:5 - He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
   
   

BIBLICAL TRUTH: It is a commandment for children to honour their parents – Exodus 20:12
